How eHelp keeps people safe
Plain answers about protection, reporting and what we can and can't promise.
If you feel unsafe right now: contact local emergency services first (in India, dial 112). Then report the member on eHelp and block them. eHelp is not an emergency service.
How payments are protected
For paid work, the customer pays eHelp first. We hold the money while the work is done and release it to the helper when you both confirm. If something goes wrong while we hold it, either of you can open a dispute.
Payments and Billing TermsWhy payment must stay on eHelp
Payments outside eHelp have no protection: no held money, no dispute, no record. Messages that clearly try to move payment off eHelp are stopped before they are sent and reported to our team. Accounts that do this can be restricted or closed.
Marketplace TermsHow reporting works
Use the Report link next to any member, message, service, request, offer, task, payment, review, community, post or comment. Reports are private: the member is not told who reported them. People on our team review every report.
Your reportsHow blocking works
Blocking stops messages, offers and requests between you and the other member. They are not told. You can unblock them at any time.
Blocked membersHow disputes work
If paid work goes wrong while eHelp holds the money, open a dispute from the task. Both sides can add evidence. We decide to refund, release or split the money, and explain why.
Dispute PolicyHow reviews work
Only the two people on a completed task can review each other, once each. Ratings count one review per reviewer. We don't remove reviews for being negative, only for breaking the Review Policy, and we look for traded or pressured reviews.
Review PolicyHow identity verification works
A member can have a government ID checked by eHelp. Only the last 4 characters are kept and the photo is deleted after review. The badge shows the check was done; it is not a background check.
Verify your identityHow communities are moderated
Each community has owners, admins and moderators who can remove posts, pause posting and ban members from their community. They can't see your private information. eHelp can act on any community.
Community GuidelinesWhat eHelp does
- Holds payments until the work is confirmed.
- Reviews reports and safety signals with real people.
- Removes content and restricts or closes accounts that break the rules, with a way to appeal.
- Checks government IDs for members who ask to be verified.
- Keeps your email, exact location and payout details private.
What eHelp does not guarantee
- Anyone's identity, qualifications or behaviour beyond what a badge describes.
- The quality, safety or outcome of any work or help.
- That every problem can be undone: money released or paid outside eHelp can't be recovered by eHelp.
- Emergency or medical help. See the Emergency and Medical Assistance Disclaimer.
Staying safe when you meet in person
- Check profiles, badges and reviews before you agree anything.
- Share only the address details that are needed, when they are needed.
- Tell someone you trust where you will be. Consider meeting somewhere public first.
- Never share passwords, one-time codes or card details. eHelp staff will never ask for them.
- Trust your instincts: you can cancel, block and report at any time.
